We are delighted to announce that our Forgotten Orchard 2016 vintage Perry has won the 3 star Great Taste Award.

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’.

Out of 12,634 products entered in the awards, only 192 achieved the highest and most coveted rating, three stars.

Here are some of the judge’s comments…

Beautiful crystal coloured beverage with sprightly bubbles. Faint perry pear on the nose.

Crisp, sharp and dry on the palate but not unpleasantly so. Good fizz to it and a wonderful length.

The flavour of the pear is light and amazingly refreshing.

Judges would be proud to bring this out at any dinner party. Celebratory stuff!

Did we also mention that we got a star for our Forgotten Orchard Garden Mint too?

Described as “A beautiful pale golden colour, champagne sparkle, a very soft fresh nose with maybe a subtle hint of mint“, our Garden Mint has been awarded the prestigious award alongside our Perry.

It was also mentioned by the judges that our Mint cider was “Pleasingly dry but with a nice sweet note, good length of flavour” and ” Very nice, approachable, a lovely summer garden drink

Again, we are delighted and very proud of our Purbeck Cider.

Cheers!
