Kings Hill Collection
We have been working on something a little different here at Purbeck Cider- a new range that exudes sophistication and elegance. Kings Hill is a collection of fine beverages, inspired by the breath-taking valley view from our home farm on Kingston Hill, land once befit for Saxon Kings.
Kingston is derived from the meaning of ‘King’s farm and manor’ owned by Saxon Kings before it was finally granted to the Abbess ‘Lady ‘of Shaftesbury. Who also owned the valley mound before William the Conqueror persuaded her to swap it for a church in Gillingham. In 1086 Corfe Castle was built in the heart of the Purbeck Isle.
The Kings Hill Collection is entirely made from our orchard and locally grown fruit. Much is grown in our orchards at Dorset Cider Farm, taking the short journey through the historic village of Corfe Castle to be processed at the home farm. Our fruit is carefully selected, freshly pressed and sustainable, travelling just a few short miles in production.
Each single variety batch is produced using only single pressed fruit, carefully crafted with methode Champenoise and hand finished. The result is refined and rather exquisite, a unique artisan cider or perry that offers a clean and crisp finish with a champagne sparkle and delicate flavours.
Our first offering is the On-leaf Dabinett. A well-known cider apple that gives a good depth of flavour and rounded finish. Fermented using the wild yeast from the leaf and bottle aged using methode Champenoise, the result is a subtle dry sparkle with the earthy notes of the Dabinett. This is a limited-edition small batch product not to missed.
